In a fearless display of batting prowess, Jason Roy of Quetta Gladiators disrupted Shaheen Afridi's formidable opening over class with three back-to-back boundaries. Roy picked the gaps to perfection to ensure a flyer start for his team.

To conclude a horrendous PSL season, defending champions Lahore Qalandars stepped out in Karachi Stadium to spoil the Quetta Gladiators' party. The Gladiators desperately needed to win the contest to stay alive in the playoff race.

Lahore batted first, and Shaheen Afridi's terrific half century helped them set up 166 runs on the board.

With the momentum shifting, Jason Roy ensured Quetta got off to a flyer by targeting none other than the opposition skipper, Shaheen Afridi.

For those unversed, Afridi has had a pretty ordinary season with the new ball this PSL, and Roy used his poor form to his advantage.

Jason Roy flicked Afridi's in-swinger towards the mid-wicket gap for a boundary on the first ball. With pressure visible on the bowler's face, Roy struck him further with another dominating boundary towards point. Afridi was taken aback by that beating on a good ball.

Furthermore, in the rush of blood, Roy completed a hat-trick of boundaries with another four towards the backward point. The batter went aerial this time and managed to clear the infield to add four runs to his team's tally.

While Afridi salvaged the over with three dot balls, the damage was already done as Roy had found his rhythm.

Having said that, Shaheen Afridi's ordinary form this PSL season has become a matter of massive concern for Pakistan cricket. His leadership has also been under scrutiny due to some controversial decisions in the PSL.

With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, Pakistan is under intense pressure to regroup and regain competitiveness.
