Australian number three Josh Inglis went hammer and tongs from the moment he arrived to the crease in the fifth over of the innings against India in Vishakhapatnam. Employing enterprising stroke-play along with ferocious clobbering, the cricketer bludgeoned 11 boundaries and eight towering sixes in his T20I career-best 110-run knock.

His innings turbo-charged the Australian total to a colossal 208-3, all while defying the likes of emerging Indian stars Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Ravi Bishnoi and Mukesh Kumar.

Through the course of his batting blitzkrieg in Vishakhapatnam, the 28-year-old also levelled a huge Australian T20I record, joining former cricketer and legendary opener Aaron Finch.

Josh Inglis shapes fastest Australian T20I ton

Josh Inglis tonked 110 scorching runs from just 50 balls against India in the first T20I of their five-match series. The innings marked his maiden T20I century, considering his previous best score in the format was just 48 ever since he made his international debut in February 2022.

Remarkably, Inglis raced to his 100 off just 47 balls, thus levelling the all-time Australian record for scoring the fastest T20I century. Previously, former Australian opening batsman Aaron Finch had also produced a 47-ball ton during his side’s T20I showdown against England in 2013 at Southampton.

Josh Inglis’ innings lifted Australia to a colossal 208-3 in their 20 overs. Apart from his counterattacking century, Australian batting veteran Steve Smith also pumped out 52 runs from his end off 41 deliveries while opening the innings for the first time in his T20I career.
