It all seemed like Shamar Joseph, who was with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024, took some inspiration from Jonty Rhodes, who was there as their fielding coach throughout the competition.
Joseph, 24, made headlines when he put up a stupendous performance at the Gabba for the West Indies against Pat Cummins' Australia earlier this year. He kept on doing wonders in the recently-concluded T20I series at home against South Africa.
Among many memorable moments, was the way Joseph took a catch off Andile Phehlukwayo during the second T20I of the three-match series at Sabina Park. During the 15th over of South Africa's innings, Gudakesh Motie came to bowl at Phehlukwayo, who was batting on 3* off six balls.
Phehlukwayo thumped Motie for a six, although he did not get the timing right. Placed at deep, Joseph ran to his left before diving in perfectly to complete an outrageous catch.

Joseph made his IPL debut in IPL 2024, against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. He returned figures of 0/47 off his four overs, although he impressed everyone with his extreme pace.
