Dom Bess, the talented English off-spinner, stunned fans with a spectacular one-handed catch at short cover to dismiss Leus du Plooy during a recent County Championship match between Yorkshire and Middlesex.

The moment unfolded during a crucial phase of the game when Middlesex was building a threatening partnership in response to Yorkshire’s 601 first-inning total.

With Middlesex reduced to 260/4, Ben Coad was up against Leus du Plooy in the 93rd over. Meanwhile, Dom Bess was stationed at short cover, an aggressive fielding position that demands quick reactions.

Dom Bess lits up County game with stunning fielding efforts

Plooy attempted a drive on Coad’s full toss and the ball flew like a tracer bullet at the fielder. However, Bess, with lightning speed, stood still, reached his left hand out and the ball got stuck in his hand, thus completing a stunning one-handed catch.

His cool demeanour and effortless execution left both his teammates and spectators in awe. The remarkable effort reflects on why fielding is considered an essential component in a team's success, especially in close and high-stake encounters.

That marked the end of Plooy’s short 36 runs stay at the crease as Middlesex lost half their men with a big trail still left to cover. Eventually, both teams ran out of time to produce a result, and the match ended in a draw.

SRH-LSG Enters Race To Buy Yorkshire

A debt ridden Yorkshire invited investors from IPL before Rajasthan Royals’ debt deal offer was rejected by the county club.

Later, SRH and LSG reportedly offered them twice the money to buy majority stakes. However, the county club is yet to make up their mind and finalise a deal.

Interestingly, Delhi Capitals’ part owner, GMR Group, earlier bought majority stakes in Hampshire Club.
