In an exciting development, Surrey County Cricket Club is reportedly in talks to sign Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for a single County Championship match, starting from September 9, before he flies to India for a multi-format bilateral series.

Shakib Al Hasan was involved in a serious legal matter when he was named in an FIR for alleged murder during the student protest that caused political unrest in Bangladesh.

However, BCB allowed him to continue featuring in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan as the charges were yet to be proven.

That being said, following the conclusion of the Pakistan series, Bangladesh is set to tour India for a multi-format series, including a two-game Test series, which will commence in Chennai on September 19.

Shakib Al Hasan might play County cricket soon

Ahead of the tour, Surrey is reportedly working on a deal through which Shakib Al Hasan can feature in one County Championship game against Somerset starting from September 9.

If the deal materialises, Shakib can travel to London from Pakistan and then to Chennai for the Test series.

Notably, due to fear of arrest, Shakib Al Hasan is currently avoiding travelling back to his home country, Bangladesh.

That being said, Shakib was a key part of Bangladesh's historic 10-wicket victory against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

The all-rounder picked up four wickets in two innings, out of which three dismissals came at a crucial time on Day 5, which helped Bangladesh bowl out Pakistan to a minimum lead.

Additionally, Rawalpindi's victory turned out to be Bangladesh’s first-ever victory against Pakistan in Test cricket history.
