IPL teams Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad have joined Rajasthan Royals in the race to buy English County Club Yorkshire, who are in debt and facing financial problems.

In 2023, the inaugural IPL champions offered 25 million dollars to buy Yorkshire, but a change in administration at Yorkshire led the deal to collapse. The county club stated that the Royals offered them a debt deal and they were not comfortable with taking a loan to clear off a debt.

Earlier this year, there were reports that Yorkshire had again opened talks with Rajasthan Royals, but in the latest events, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants have joined the race.

In the meantime,  Sun Group, which owns Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20, has shown interest and offered £50 million to Yorkshire - twice what the Royals offered initially.

Other than them, Goenka group which owns the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and Durban Super Giants in SA20 have also showed interest, but no deal has been finalised.

Delhi Capitals Buy Hampshire

It is not the first time that an IPL team has shown interest in buying a county club as earlier, GMR group, co-owner of Delhi Capitals, secured the deal with a £120 million offer.
