Multan Sultans' vice-captain, David Willey, outclassed Quetta Gladiators' skipper, Rilee Rossouw, with a pinpoint toe-crushing yorker in the 30th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League edition (PSL 2024) at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Defending 186 against a strong batting line-up of Quetta Gladiators, Willey took the new ball in hand, and in the third over, he trapped his countryman and Quetta’s dynamic opener, Jason Roy, in front of the wicket to provide the first breakthrough for his team.

However, he delivered his best ball of the opening spell when he knocked over the Quetta captain with an accurate yorker in the fifth over. The ball was full and targeting the middle and leg stump; Rossouw was stuck in his crease and played all around it as the ball floored the leg stump.

By the looks of it, the southpaw was not expecting that and got a bit of an inside edge onto his stumps. Rossouw's poor run continues with the bat in this year's PSL.

With that wicket, Multan pushed Quetta on the backfoot as the team could never revive from that spot. Eventually, the Gladiators got bundled out for 106, courtesy Willey's three wickets and Usama Mir's 3-22.

Earlier, the Mohammad Rizwan-led team managed to pile up 185 runs in the allotted 20 overs, with the skipper himself leading the way with a crafty 47-ball 69. Johnson Charles (53 off 29) and Iftikhar Ahmed (20 off 8) provided the much-needed acceleration at the backend to ensure that Multan finished on a high.
