In a clash between Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, tensions flared on the field as England's Jason Roy and Pakistan's Iftikhar Ahmed engaged in a heated exchange while representing their respective franchises.

The incident unfolded during the second innings as Gladiators chased a daunting target, with Roy at the crease. Amid a DRS appeal by Roy against David Willey, Ahmed initiated a verbal altercation, prompting Roy to confront him mid-pitch, requiring intervention from Sultan players, including captain Mohammad Rizwan.

Wasim Akram, a legendary figure in Pakistani cricket, expressed his dismay, emphasizing Roy's obligation to respect Pakistani players and culture. He said:

"Jason Roy must know he is in Pakistan. He has to respect our players and our culture. Why was he angry after getting out? It was his own mistake, and his anger was useless. He does it regularly"

Roy's frustration boiled over as he failed to utilize the DRS in time, resulting in his dismissal and a visible display of frustration, tossing his bat and helmet to the ground. His departure proved pivotal as Sultans capitalized on the momentum, securing a commanding 79-run victory in the final group match of PSL 2024.

Despite the altercation, Ahmed contributed with the bat, playing a brisk 20-run cameo for Multan, aiding them in posting a formidable total of 185 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

As the tournament progresses, Multan Sultans gear up to face Peshawar Zalmi in the Qualifier, while Quetta Gladiators prepare for a showdown against Islamabad United in Eliminator 1, setting the stage for further intense encounters in the PSL 2024.
