Cricket Scotland finds itself embroiled in Racism controversy following the release of the McKinney Report, which raises significant concerns about the organisation's ill-treatment of its female staff and players.

Conducted by a reputable Scottish firm, the 35-page McKinney Report comes nearly two years after Cricket Scotland was labeled "institutionally racist" in another independent investigation conducted by Plan4Sport, known as "Changing The Boundaries." 

The report sheds light on troubling aspects of Cricket Scotland's operations, suggesting a "high degree of prejudice towards female staff and players." It examines six major themes, including culture and inclusion, leadership, employment practices, psychological safety, and sexism and misogyny.

Trudy Lindblade, CEO of Cricket Scotland, has voiced deep reservations about the prevailing attitudes within the organization and offered apologies "to every single person who was affected and let down by the governing body." In a statement released by Cricket Scotland, Lindblade described the report as a damning indictment of the treatment of female players and staff, acknowledging instances of disrespectful and demeaning behavior that were allowed to persist unchecked for an extended period.

"This report is a damning indictment of the treatment of female players and staff within our organisation. It is evident that Cricket Scotland allowed behaviours to take place that were disrespectful, demeaning and deeply concerning, and that these were allowed to continue for a significant period," Lindblade said in a statement released by Cricket Scotland.

Lindblade emphasised the organization's commitment to addressing these issues and improving the standing of women and girls within Scottish cricket. The report identifies various root causes of sexism, including the composition of committees, entrenched male behaviors, the underrepresentation of female game officials, and inadequate long-term strategies and funding for the women's game.

In response, Cricket Scotland has pledged to pursue pay equity in future years, aiming to achieve parity between male and female players in remuneration. One of the organization's objectives is to ensure equal match fees and tour fees for both men and women, signaling a proactive approach to rectifying gender disparities within Scottish cricket.
