Australia took on Pakistan for the first test of the three-game series on Thursday. Pat Cummins won the crucial toss and decided to bat first in the warm conditions of Perth.

That being said, the hosts were off to a flyer start as a result of Usman Khwaja and David Warner's top-notch temperament and patience. While Khawaja has been patient so far, his counterpart has activated T20 mode to tackle the Pakistani bowlers head-on.

During the 22nd over of the Australian innings, Shan Masood handed over the ball to his trump card, Shaheen Shah Afridi, hoping for a wicket. However, the tables turned when Warner chose to counter him with a full-fledged, aggressive, and audacious approach.

On the second delivery of the said over, David Warner went down on one knee and flapped the length of the delivery over the long leg for a six. The batter also fell down in the process, but that didn't affect the results. That marked the first six of the innings, and Afridi couldn't help but applaud Warner's gutsy shot with a smile.

Needless to say, the explosive opening batter intends to make it count in his final test series. Warner's has already surpassed the 70-run mark and is heading towards a commanding century.

The feat couldn't come at a better time for David Warner, who recently became a victim of unjust criticism from one of his own former teammates.

The infamous Mitchell Johnson explosive column put Warner is a bad light. Fortunately, the batter garnered enough support from friends and family to help him stay in the right frame of mind.

Having said that, Australia lost Usman Khawaja in the second session which is currently underway. Now, Warner and Labuchagne would look to solidify the partnership and extend it as much as they can to set the stage right for middle-order.
