Social media trolling has become an unfortunate aspect of modern celebrity culture, affecting individuals from various walks of life. The cricketers, who represent the nation at the highest level, aren’t immune to this cruel culture either. Meanwhile, KL Rahul, an Indian wicketkeeper batter, learned the brutal reality the hard way. After a months-long injury layoff and a grueling rehab process, the middle-order made a comeback to the national side during the recently concluded ODI World Cup.

While Rahul shut down the doubters by performing up to standards during league stages, miscues during the big finale cost him and the team dearly. One misstep was enough for the troller to regain their voice.

Following the final loss to Australia, dejected fans trolled KL Rahul on social media, and some users crossed a line by calling Rahul all sorts of names.

Suniel Shetty Reacts To Trolls Targeting KL Rahul

The incessant online trolling worried veteran Bollywood actor and Rahul’s father-in-law, Suniel Shetty. While speaking to ANI, the actor revealed that he reached out to KL, expressing his concerns about the impact of trolling on the latter.

He says as a parent, the trolls and criticism affect him 100 times more than they would ever do to either Rahul or Athiya Shetty. However, the wicketkeeper batter reassured him, saying that his bat would talk and shut down the trollers at the right time.

"The faith of the people in him, the selectors, the faith of the captain, it said it all. It hurts me 100 times more than it would hurt Rahul or Athiya," Suniel Shetty said.

Having said that, Suniel Shetty also added how the faith of true fans, selectors, and captains meant a lot to KL Rahul during this difficult phase. But at the same time, he takes solace in the fact that Rahul is immune to these negatives.

KL Rahul tied the knot with Suniel Shetty’s daughter Athiya Shetty in January earlier this year. After years of courtship, the duo decided to get hitched at the actor’s family bungalow in Khandala, surrounded by family and close friends.
