Rejected by the Chennai Super Kings after giving trials ahead of the mega auction, rising Indian star, Ayush Mhatre struck with a crucial Bangladesh wicket of Mohammad James as the Indian side are right on top of the Tigers in the Under-19 Asia Cup final.
Put into bat by the Indian. skipper, Bangladesh had a disastrous start as they lost Kalam Aleen early in the innings. There was a brief partnership for the second wicket, but once India broke the partnership, the wicket floodgates opened as thde Indian bowlers ran riot.
The talented Bangladesh batter, Mohammad James put on a bit of fight as he batted beautifully and reached the 40-run mark when Mhatre decided to weave his magic to dismiss the opposition batter.
He bowled a tossed up ball as the Bangladesh batter couldn't resist going for the big shot and miscued it badly. The ball took a top-edge as the fielder at long-off came forward and took a simple catch.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, the Chennai Super Kings side called up Mhatre for the trials and so much so that reports came up that the Under-19 star impressed MS Dhoni with his work ethics.
However, to everyone's surprise, the 5-time IPL champions didn't bid for the youngster and he went unsold in the mega auction.
In the ongoing Under-19 Asia Cup Mhatre has scored 175 runs, at an average of 58.33. He has also chipped in with crucial wickets as India have reached the finals and are in the driving seat to win the finals.
