On Sunday, December 8, India suffered an embarrassing 10-wicket defeat against Australia in the 2nd Test of the five-match tour. The series is now levelled at 1-1, and it has created a panic within the Indian dressing room as the Rohit Sharma-led side have slipped to 3rd spot in the WTC standings.
India looked like a pale shadow of the team that played in Perth, as the visitors, batting first, tumbled for 180. Meanwhile Australia, in reply, took a heavy lead of 157 runs. In return, India again collapsed with the bat and amassed just 175 runs in their second innings.
Support Staff Seen in Animated Chat After Adelaide Defeat
The defeat has raised several doubts in fans' minds as a section of them are also questioning skipper Rohit Sharma and other veteran players' spot in the team. Meanwhile, saddened by the defeat, the Indian team hit the nets right after the match got over on day 3.
According to a tweet from a sports journalist Subhayan Chakraborty, the support staff was also involved in an animated chat as the players were sweating hard in the nets and preparing for the upcoming Test match in Brisbane on December 14.
There is no hiding that head coach Gautam Gambhir, and also his support staff are under the scanner after the humiliating loss on Sunday.
India Risk Not Qualifying For WTC Finals
It is worth noting that India are placed 3rd on the WTC standings. The visitors now would have to eye to win all the remaining three matches to not rely on other teams to see them through to the finals in Lord's next year.
At present, the race is between India, Australia and South Africa as it stands difficult for other teams to surpass these three giants in the standings for this cycle.
