Team India’s 10-wicket drubbing at the hands of Australia in the second Test at the Adelaide Oval has left fans fuming with anger. Twitterati went berserk as they didn’t mince their words and slammed India’s performance, particularly targetting captain Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma Under Fire After India’s Humiliating Loss to Australia

From his captaincy decisions to his batting struggles, Rohit Sharma was in the firing line, and the criticism was immense. Rohit’s captaincy was the biggest talking point, and fans didn’t hold back.

One angry tweet read, “Can’t bat. Can’t field. Can’t captain. Can’t respect veteran players...Rohit DuckMan sharma burden to team India. Please retire Hippo”

Another fan sarcastically posted, “Watching his Test captaincy spoils all the fun of Test matches. Please retire from this beautiful format.”

It wasn’t just about losing. Fans were upset with Rohit’s lack of proactive leadership on the field. The decision-making, field placements, and team strategies seemed to fall apart under pressure which left supporters questioning if he’s the right man for the job.

Overseas Struggles Continue for Rohit

Rohit’s performance as a batter came under the scanner too. His failure to contribute with the bat only fuelled the outrage.

Another fan tweeted, “I’m 23 years old, watching cricket since 2007, and I’ve never seen Rohit Sharma step up for India outside India.”

His overseas record has always been a topic of debate, and this match added another blot to his Test legacy. Fans lashed out hard as they pointed out the Indian skipper's inability to handle the moving ball and his struggles to adjust in tough conditions.

Team India’s Miserable Performance in Adelaide

Rohit wasn’t the only target. The entire team came under scrutiny for their lacklustre performance. The batting collapse in the first innings, highlighted by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s golden duck and Kohli’s soft dismissal, set the tone for the match.

In the second innings, there were brief moments of resistance from Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, but they were not enough to save the day.

While the hosts fell apart, the visitors stood apart. Mitchell Starc’s sensational six-wicket haul in the first innings laid the foundation and Travis Head’s magnificent 140 buried India further.

Captain Pat Cummins was the ultimate game-changer as he ran through the Indian batting lineup in the second innings with a brilliant five-wicket spell.

For Indian fans, it was salt in the wound to watch Australia chase down 19 runs without breaking a sweat. Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney ensured the match ended with a 10-wicket statement victory.
