Another run-chase and another failure for the India Women's captain, Harmanpreet Kaur. The visiting side needed a mammoth 372 to level the series, but their batters crumbled under pressure and lost the series.
A target of 372 was never going to be easy and it was made difficult by the Aussie bowlers as they dismissed star opener, Smriti Mandhana cheaply. It was followed by Harleen Deol's wicket as the team stuttered in a crucial run-chase. However, skipper Harmanpreet forged a partnership with Richa Ghosh as they slowly and steadily took the innings further.
However, just like the previous match, she couldn't capitalise on the opportunity and failed once again when India needed her the most. Aussie bowler, Megan Schutt bowled a fuller length ball on the middle and leg as Harmanpreet Kaur chipped it straight to the fielder at short mid-wicket. She couldn't control the shot as the ball landed straight into the hands of Georgia Voll.
Voll, Perry's ton punish Indian bowlers
Batting first, Australian batters made a mockery of the Indian bowlers as they blasted their highest score against India (371). This was the highest total conceded by India in ODIs as records were shattered.
Georgia Voll, the opening batter was at her imperial best as she slammed 101 off 87 balls. Once she led the platform for the other batters, it was time for the Ellyse Perry show as the all-rounder hammered 105 off 75 deliveries. Her scintillating knock was laced with 7 fours and 6 sixes as India had no answer to her brilliance.
Perry used the batting conditions to her advantage as Harmanpreet Kaur and her team allowed the Aussie side to run away with the contest.
