Varun Chakravarthy never fails to deliver when given the ball, and he proved it once again on his ODI debut against England. Playing in the second ODI at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday, the KKR spinner struck early by dismissing Phil Salt for 26 runs.

England won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Ben Duckett and Phil Salt started aggressively, smashing boundaries all over the ground. But in the 11th over, Chakravarthy made his mark.

Bowling a clever carrom ball, he aimed straight at the stumps. Salt tried to clear his front leg and go for a big shot across the line but got a top edge. The ball went high into the air, and Ravindra Jadeja, known for his safe hands, made no mistake. He calmly took the catch at mid-wicket, breaking England's strong 81-run opening stand.

As soon as the wicket fell, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was visibly delighted. He walked up to Chakravarthy and patted him on the head, acknowledging the crucial breakthrough. It was a proud moment for the debutant, making an impact early in his ODI career.

England Looking to Bounce Back In 2nd ODI

After losing the first ODI in Pune, England is determined to make a comeback. With Jos Buttler's team aiming for a big total, Joe Root and Ben Duckett are currently at the crease, steadying the innings. At the time of writing, England stands at 94 for 1 in 13 overs.
