In the second ODI between India and England at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, on Sunday, England won the toss and chose to bat first. Indian captain Rohit Sharma made two changes to the playing XI—Virat Kohli returned to the squad, and Varun Chakravarthy got his ODI debut. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal was dropped from the team, and Kuldeep Yadav was rested.

Why is Yashasvi Jaiswal not playing today?

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his ODI debut in the first match against England in Pune, as Virat Kohli was unavailable due to a knee injury. However, Jaiswal couldn't make the most of his opportunity, scoring just 15 runs off 22 balls. Now that Kohli has recovered and is back in the team, the left-handed batter has been left out of the playing XI.

This change is purely a tactical decision, as India prefer to have Kohli's experience in the batting order. Meanwhile, Jaiswal will have to wait for another opportunity to prove himself in ODIs.

It's worth noting that Jaiswal is part of India's squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. His exclusion in this match could be a strategic move by Rohit Sharma to test different combinations ahead of the big tournament.

India's Playing XI:
