On Sunday, February 9, India locked horns against England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The Men in Blue are leading the series 1-0 and they made a couple of changes for the ongoing match. However, the Three Lions won the toss and opted to bat first.
For the second straight time, England got off to a flying start as openers Ben Duckett and Phil Salt stitched a fifty-plus stand. Further, the bowlers were not on song, as Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya went for runs in the powerplay.
Shami's Bowling Frustrates Rohit
Shami was the most expensive one, as at the time of writing this article, Shami has conceded 30 runs in his four overs. Meanwhile, a video on the internet showed Rohit Sharma getting animated and mad at the right-arm seamer for his wayward line and length.
The incident occurred on the last ball of the 7th over, when Duckett sliced one for a four, and it was the third boundary of the over that made Rohit angry. Watch the incident here.
Shami Struggling Since India Return
Mohammed Shami, who was out of action for the entire 2024 because of a heel and knee injury, made his return to the Indian side for the T20Is against England. However, the right-arm seamer is yet to regain his lost mojo.
In the T20I series, he took 3 wickets in two matches. Further, in the ongoing series, Shami looked tired and out of breath after bowling his full quota of overs in the first ODI. Further, he took just a solitary wicket in that match. Talking about the ongoing match, England are 76/0 after 10 overs.
