In the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 match between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Bank Stadium In Karachi, the visitors are in total control of the match as the Blackcaps, batting first, put 320 runs on the board. In reply, Pakistan got off to the worst possible start as they lost Saud Shakeel early on.

Notably, Babar Azam had a new opening partner as Fakhar Zaman could not open because of ICC rules as he spent a lot of time outside the field during Men in Green's bowling. While Pakistan lost the wicket early on, the pressure grew on Babar as he was tasked with more responsibility on his shoulders.

It is worth noting that Babar Azam has been asked to open the innings for Pakistan as the Men in Green have lost Saim Ayub due to injury and dropped Abdullah Shafique out of the squad because of his poor form.

Further, he has been silent with the bat and hasn't scored a century with the bat in the past two years in ODIs. His last fifty-over ton came against Nepal in August 2023.

Talking about the ongoing match, Babar looks in great touch as he has smashed two fours and is batting on 12 (27), which featured two boundaries. Overall, Pakistan are in trouble and put just 22 runs on the board after 10 overs with a loss of 2 wickets.
