Peshawar Zalmi captain and opening batsman Babar Azam got off to a sublime start at the top of the order for his side against Karachi Kings in match number six of the ongoing PSL 2024 season. The legendary Pakistan batsman seized a couple of confident boundaries off Karachi Kings’ spinner and national teammate Mohammad Nawaz during the latter’s opening over of the innings.

Earlier in the same game, Babar also completed 10,000 runs in his T20 profile to become the fastest batsman in the world to attain the landmark figure.

Opening the innings with Saim Ayub, Babar Azam saw off Karachi Kings’ new-ball threat posed by Shoaib Malik and Mir Hamza in the first couple of overs. In the third over of the innings, the Peshawar Zalmi skipper welcomed national teammate and Kings’ left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz with a flawless boundary through midwicket.

A few deliveries later in the same over, Babar belted Nawaz with an elegant sweep towards deep backward square for another boundary to race to 11-ball 19* by the end of the third over.

Earlier in his innings, Babar Azam brought up 10,000 runs in his T20 career by picking up a double off Mir Hamza. In doing so, the Pakistan veteran became the fastest batsman in history to attain the coveted milestone.

Babar pounced on his confident start and eventually notched up a well-compiled half-century, the 84th of his expansive T20 career. The cricketer separately holds 10 centuries in the format, including three in T20 international matches.
