Bangladesh fast bowler Shohidul Islam nearly injured himself while trying to celebrate a wicket in match number 39 of the ongoing BPL 2024 season. 

Turning up for Chattogram Challengers, the speedster attempted to replicate Christiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘SIUUU’ celebration after trapping Khulna Tigers captain Anamul Haque against the run of play.

Shohidul ended up slipping in his follow-through instead, thus igniting an intense laugh riot among the on-air commentators at the time.


Shohidul Islam nearly injures himself in BPL 2024

Defending 193 at Chattogram, Shohidul Islam accounted for the wicket of Khulna Tigers captain Anamul Haque during the ninth over of the innings. Moments after the dismissal, Shohidul exulted over the occasion by mimicking Christiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘SIUUU’ celebration.

The fast bowler, however, slipped in his follow-through and fell on the ground instead. While the moment sparked much amusement in the crowd, even on-air commentator Ramiz Raja seemingly could not control his laughter upon the sight of Shohidul nearly injuring himself.

On the cricketing front, Shohidul Islam’s timely strike against Khulna Tigers turned out to be one of the defining moments of the game, as Anamul Haque’s departure against the run of play triggered a colossal batting collapse in their run-chase.

The Tigers eventually slumped to a 65-run defeat, thus handing hosts Chattogram Challengers their seventh win of the BPL 2024 season.
