South Africa’s final-wicket pair of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi survived Pakistan’s steaming pace attack for just long enough to deal with spinners in the closing stages of their World Cup 2023 thriller in Chennai.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, after getting exhausted of all his pace options, eventually went to his left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz for the 48th over of the innings. Maharaj’s patience ultimately paid off in the over as he helped a freebie down the leg side towards deep backward square region for a winning boundary.

After South Africa notched up their winning runs, the ‘Men in Green’ captain was spotted yelling at his bowler for erring in his line and length at a critical juncture of the game.

Mere moments after Keshav Maharaj dispatched the match-winning boundary for South Africa, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was spotted reacting angrily towards his bowler Mohammad Nawaz for conceding an easy delivery.

Judging by his gestures, the batting veteran seemingly yelled at Nawaz for erring in his line at a critical juncture of the contest straightaway into his over. Upon intricate analysis, one can assume that the Pakistani skipper yelled:

“Aur kuch nahi aata kya, bus ek hi ball daalta hai.” (Don’t you know anything else apart from bowling that one ball?)

Pakistan’s setback to South Africa marked their fourth World Cup 2023 defeat, all in succession, as they now stare towards a certain elimination from the semi-finals race.

Babar Azam and co. will now face Bangladesh for their subsequent challenge on October 31. The virtual dead-rubber will be played out at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
