Islamabad United power hitter Haider Ali reinforced his talent and promise under pressure during the Eliminator 2 clash against the Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Saturday (March 16). 

Walking in at No.7 in a stiff run-chase of 186, the elegant and free-flowing right-hand batter hammered an enterprising and match-winning knock of 52 off just 29 deliveries for the Islamabad franchise. 

When he arrived, the United were precariously placed at 91/5 in the 11th over. However, the team still reached home with an over left, thanks to an excellent partnership that Haider shared with experienced allrounder Imad Wasim, who also struck a priceless 59 not out off 40 balls. 


Haider's Pair Of Sixes Seal The Deal For United 

True to his reputation as a massive striker of the cricket ball, Haider belted five maximums on the night, with a pair of them coming towards the close of the proceedings and sealing the fate of the game as United rallied on his and Imad's shoulders to secure a place in the final. 

Facing Pakistan and Zalmi speedster Aamer Jamal, Haider smashed the ball towards his favourite on-side for two of the most imposing and intimidating sixes for any bowler to overcome. 

Those sixes eased the equation significantly for Islamabad United while forcing a drop of shoulders within the Zalmi camp. 

Haider's knock was another shining example of the player's match-winning capabilities as he embraced the difficult situation with guts and immense skill for a memorable half-century under huge pressure. 

The 23-year-old certainly raised his prospects in the shortest format with the sheer belligerence on display off his willow. He also hit two fours alongside the spree of sixes he came up with and ended with a terrific strike rate of 179.31.
