Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli will have an outstanding IPL 2024 season with the bat despite returning from a long break.

Kohli pulled out of the recent Test series against England for personal reasons and hasn't joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad yet.

However, Kaif reminisced about Kohli's remarkable century against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup right after his break.

Here’s what Mohammad Kaif said on Star Sports:

"Virat Kohli has been playing amazing cricket for the last 1-2 years; he has been in good form. I remember during the Asia Cup when he scored a century against Afghanistan; since then, he hasn't looked back.”

Additionally, Mohammad Kaif pointed out that while consistency is crucial for most players to stay in rhythm, Virat Kohli defies this norm. Each time he takes a break, he returns with renewed vigour and seems even more threatening.

“One special thing about Virat Kohli is that every time he comes back from a break, he plays really well. Most players want to be in touch and play regularly to get in form, but Virat Kohli every time when he comes back from the break, he comes across as a more dangerous batsman.”

Mohammad Kaif further stated the importance of their big guns like Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green in the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.

“Yes, there are Green and Maxwell in the team, but Virat Kohli's form will decide RCB's place in the playoffs. It's important that Virat Kohli is in form with Maxwell and Green for RCB to qualify for the playoffs," he added.

Notably, Virat Kohli is expected to join the RCB squad on March 17 and attend RCB's boxing event on March 19 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
