Saim Ayub delivered timely breakthroughs for Peshawar Zalmi with the new ball against Islamabad United in the all-important PSL 2024 Eliminator clash between the two sides.

After making 73 off 44 balls in the first half of the game, the cricketer accounted for the key Islamabad United wickets of Alex Hales and Agha Salman in just his first two overs of the innings. Moreover, spin colleague and fellow powerplay raider Mehran Mumtaz also cleaned up rival captain Shadab Khan as United’s run-chase response splatted further at 21-3.

Tasked to bowl the opening over of the innings, Peshawar Zalmi’s part-time spinner Saim Ayub once again delivered an early breakthrough for his side by accounting for the wicket of danger man Alex Hales. Earlier in the match, Ayub blasted 73 runs from just 44 deliveries and shared a breathtaking 72-run partnership for the opening wicket with captain Babar Azam. His innings, coupled with Mohammad Haris’ 40 and death-overs cameos from Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Aamer Jamal and Hussain Talat blazed Peshawar Zalmi to a competitive 185-5 from their 20 overs.
