Saud Shakeel is fast growing in stature in world cricket. He is delivering consistently for Pakistan and is now the vice-captain of the Test side. In the first Test against Bangladesh too, he has now shown his class with a brilliant unbeaten fifty on Day 1 to take his side to safer shores.

The middle order batter came out to bat with Pakistan in all sorts of trouble at 16-3 after Bangladesh decided to bowl first. It was a delayed start and the conditions were helpful for the bowlers, but Saud Shakeel showed tremendous skills and temperament and got to his fifty in the 38th over. 

Pakistan players in the dressing room which included Babar Azam clearly understood the importance of the fifty and all were on their feet to applaud their vice-captain's effort.

He formed a formidable partnership with Saim Ayub and the duo took Pakistan's score over 100. Both scored fifty, but Ayub lost his wicket on 56 with Hasan Mahmud getting the better of him at the fag end of the day. 

Saud Shakeel And Rizwan - Main Obstacles For Bangladesh

Shakeel hit five boundaries in his knock, and would be looking to build on his good performance in the opening day. He has Mohammad Rizwan alongside him and he too is batting well on 24 off 31 balls. 

Bangladesh, on the other hand, would be looking to pick early wickets on Day 2, and knock over Pakistan as early as possible to put themselves infront in this first Test.
