In the ongoing first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Stadium, the hosts are 114/3 after 31 overs.

The visitors got off to a positive start as they took three early wickets. Pakistan were at 16/3 when Saud Shakeel came to bat. The No.5 batter created an impact from the first ball and scored 46 (68).

With the feat, he entered the history books as he became the joint-fastest player to reach to 1000 Test runs for Pakistan.

Notably, before this match, Shakeel required just 33 runs to reach this feat and with a 46-run knock, he equalled a 65-year-old record.

Shakeel took just 20 innings to reach this milestone. Back in 1959, Saeed Ahmed had become the fastest to 1,000 Test runs, getting to the feat against Australia in the third Test at Karachi.

Shakeel, who made his Test debut in 2022, has scored 967 runs in 19 innings before this match. He has two hundreds and six fifties in 19 innings, including a double hundred against Sri Lanka at Galle last year.
