Mark Wood is one of the fastest bowlers in the world, and when he is on song, it is quite a thrilling watch. The wicket of Kusal Mendis on the opening day of the first Test match between England and Sri Lanka was a classic example of it. Mark Wood bowled a superb bouncer at almost 150 clicks and that left well-set Kusal Mendis high and dry.

It was the first delivery of the 16th over and Mark Wood angled a short delivery on the face of Kusal Mendis. The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper tried to defend it, but the ball was too quick and the ball blasted his thumb in no time. 

It looped up in the air to the second slip fielder where Harry Brook took an easy catch and Sri Lanka lost their fourth wicket with just 40 runs on the board. Mendis scored 24 off 34 balls, and looked good for more, but Mark Wood's pace halted his progress.
