The highly anticipated clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium saw both Khan brothers in action during the 2024 Duleep Trophy. Expectations were high, but both Musheer and Sarfaraz Khan let their fans down, departing for low scores in the high-octane face-off.

Musheer Khan, who is playing for India B, fell for a golden duck, leaving his brother Sarfaraz to step in during a crucial phase of the game.

In the first innings, Sarfaraz Khan couldn’t live up to the expectations, departing after scoring just 9 runs. But the second innings held more drama, especially when Sarfaraz returned to the crease determined to make an impact.

Avesh Khan’s Decisive Strike With Sarfaraz Kha's Wicket

The key moment occurred in the 18th over of the second innings when Avesh Khan came to bowl. Sarfaraz, who was nearing his half-century, was removed on the first delivery of the over. Scoring 46 runs off 36 balls, with seven fours and one six, Sarfaraz looked poised to build on India B’s lead.

However, a delivery with extra bounce cramped him for room, and a thick edge found its way to Dhruv Jurel, ending his stay at the crease. Avesh Khan, visibly pumped, celebrated the big wicket with a roar, knowing he had broken a crucial partnership.

India B Extend Lead Despite Wickets Crumbling

Earlier in the match, Musheer Khan’s impressive 181-run knock and a 205-run partnership with Navdeep Saini helped India B take the lead with a total of 321 runs in the first innings.

In response, Shubman Gill’s India A struggled, being bowled out for 231, with Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar both claiming three wickets each.

As the second innings progressed, despite early departures of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran, India B extended their lead.  At the time of writing, India B stands at 123/4, leading by 202 runs with Rishabh Pant (50*) and Nitish Reddy (9) still at the crease.
