Hanuma Vihari is one of the most celebrated cricketers from Andhra Pradesh and has represened India in 16 Tests. However, he created a stirr during the last season of Ranji Trophy when he blamed state association for interfering in team selection during his captaincy.

Vihari claimed that a politician's son was preferred over other deserving players and vowed to not play for Andhra Pradesh again due to the humiliation and biased in selection. It created a lot of drama in Andhra Pradesh with the then opposition leaders blaing the ruling party for the indifferent treatment handed to Hanuma Vihari.


Change In Heart For Hanuma Vihari

However with change in government and TDP back in power, Hanuma Vihari has changed his decision to leave Andhra cricket and is all set to feature in the upcoming domestic season for his home state. There is also possibility that he would be named as the captain again as a player with international credentials.

Hanuma Vihari told cricbuzz that he played for India after his performances for Andhra Pradesh and his commitment to state cricket remains strong. The batter also added that there were reasons behind his initial decision and now he has been persuaded successfully to represent his home state again.

"I have played for India representing Andhra, so my commitment to state cricket remains strong. There were reasons for my initial decision to leave, but I have been persuaded to stay. I feel valued for my contributions and am happy to continue playing for Andhra." 

Hanuma Vihari last played for India in a Test match against England at Birmingham in 2022, and would be looking to make this upcoming domestic season count and break into the Indian team again.
