Explosive Indian opener Abhishek Sharma sustained his dream run in the IPL 2024 as he hammered a belligerent fifty in his side's final group-stage match against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. 

Opening the batting for the hosts, the swashbuckling southpaw smashed the Punjab bowlers to all parts of the ground en route a flamboyant half-century that pushed the Orange Army to the driving seat. 

Abhishek, who enthralled the Hyderabad fans with his glorious stroke play, brought up his half century with a boundary off Harshal Patel's bowling.

It was a full-length delivery from Harshal on the stumps, with Abhishek whipping it straight over the non-striker's end. 

He timed it so well that the ball raced to the fence for a four. As he completed his fifty, the Punjab-born batter dedicated it to his sister, who was elated in the stands. 

However, soon after bringing up his fifty, Abhishek was dismissed by Shashank Singh for a blistering 28-ball 66. 

After his departure, hard-hitting South African batter Heinrich Klaasen joined Nitish Kumar Reddy in the middle. As of writing, the hosts were in complete command over the visitors, placed at 141 for three in 11.3 overs.
