Abhishek Sharma has been in commendable form this season, often setting a solid foundation for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) alongside Travis Head in the powerplay. 

However, in SRH's final match of the IPL 2024 season against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Travis Head had a tough outing. He was dismissed for a golden duck by Arshdeep Singh's lethal delivery.

Despite Head's early departure, Abhishek Sharma took charge. In the 3rd over, facing Arshdeep Singh, he showcased his aggressive batting. On the first ball of the over, a short-of-a-length delivery outside off, Abhishek attempted a pull shot. The ball caught the thick top edge of his bat and flew towards deep fine leg for a boundary.

On the very next delivery, another short-of-a-length ball angling into the left-hander, Abhishek quickly positioned himself and pulled it over mid-wicket for another four, this time the ball bounced before crossing the fence. 

Continuing his assault, he faced a third consecutive short-of-a-length delivery, this time angling into the stumps. He swiveled and pulled it, making solid contact, sending the ball soaring over deep fine leg for a six. 

His aggressive innings after Head's early dismissal provided SRH with crucial runs in the power play against PBKS.

At the time of writing, SRH are 130/2 in 10.2 overs.
