Known for his spin bowling mastery, Ravichandran Ashwin unleashed his inner power-hitter in Rajasthan Royals' ongoing IPL 2024 encounter against Delhi Capitals. The veteran Indian cricketer took a particular liking for ace DC speedster Anrich Nortje, hitting him for two huge sixes in a single over. 

The incident occurred in the eleventh over of the Royals' innings when DC skipper Rishabh Pant brought Nortje back into the attack to rattle the opponent's middle order. However, his decision backfired on the visitors, with Ashwin taking on the Proteas pacer with perfection. 

Nortje's first ball was a back of the length delivery, which Ashwin dispatched disdainfully into the stands. After rotating strike in the very next delivery, he stunned the seamer with another huge hit over the deep mid-wicket fence. 

When RR lost their third wicket in the form of Jos Buttler, the Royals promoted Ashwin to bat as a pinch-hitter at number five. The move paid off handsomely, as the right-hander brought their innings back on track with several mighty blows before getting out for a quick-fire 19-ball 29. 

Earlier, bowling first, the Capitals dismantled the Royals' top-order, with Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar breathing fire with the new ball. 

As of writing, the hosts are in a spot of bother, placed at 90 for four in 13.3 overs, with Riyan Parag unbeaten on 25*.
