England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow won over the fans' hearts with an extraordinary display of power hitting. Facing Sharafuddin Ashraf in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, Bairstow launched 3 sixes and 2 fours to pile up a massive 27-run over.
Jonny Bairstow, the prolific wicket-keeper batter from England, shockingly went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Having played a couple of seasons for SRH, Bairstow unfortunately found no takers.
Regardless, Jonny Bairstow is not frowning upon the past and is proving himself as a quality power hitter. The wicket-keeper batter, playing for Team Abu Dhabi, was up against Morrisville Samp Army in the 28th match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Jonny Bairstow goes full throttle against Sharafuddin Ashraf
Samp Army posted 109 runs on the board batting first, and while host teams were struggling, it was Jonny Bairstow who shouldered the responsibility. He unleashed his inner power hitter and took on Sharafuddin Ashraf head-on. In the 6th over, Bairstow smoked a maximum over deep mid-wicket before following it up with another six in the same area.
He cheekily pushed a boundary off the next ball to third man before fetching another six runs to deep mid-wicket. To cap off the over, Bairstow slammed a four to square third man to bring up a massive 27-run over. Jonny Bairstow's surplus over pushed Abu Dhabi's total to 54/3 in 6 overs.
That being said, Jonny Bairstow fought till the end with 70* off 30 balls but unfortunately couldn't lift his team to a victory. Team Abu Dhabi fell short of just 3 runs in chase as Samp Army stole a nerve wrecking victory.
Faf du Plessis Survives Scary Collision
Faf du Plessis had a close call during the on-going Abu Dhabi T10 League when, in a freak on-field incident, he collided with a ball boy. Fielding for Morrisville Samp Army during a tense match against Delhi Bulls, du Plessis made a desperate diving effort to save a boundary.
As he lunged to save the four, he collided with a ball boy positioned just beyond the ropes. The fall made du Plessis stumble awkwardly behind the digital advertising board but fortunately, both du Plessis and the ball boy escaped major injuries.
