In a bizarre moment caught on camera, South Africa Test captain Temba Bavuma was captured fighting for his life after his thumb got stuck in his helmet during the first Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka. Bavuma was adjusting his helmet when the thumb area of the glove got stuck, leading to discomfort.

South Africa is currently battling Sri Lanka in the first Test of the 3-game series in Durban. Following a 191 collapse in the first inning, the hosts bounced back with a sensational bowling effort. Marco Jansen (7/13) and Gerald Coetzee (2/18) dismantled the visitors to bowl them out for just 42 runs in 13.5 overs.

With a 149-run lead in hand, South Africa came in to bat with great intent in the third innings. On Day 2, the hosts had lost 3 wickets for 132 runs on board, with skipper Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs still on the crease.

Temba Bavuma struggles with bizarre problem

That being said, during Day 1 proceedings, a bizarre moment was caught on camera involving Protea captain Temba Bavuma. The hilarious scenes occurred when Bavuma was on the non-striker end with Verreynne on strike. As the bowler took his run-up, Bavuma was adjusting his helmet and accidentally, this thumb got stuck, leading to an uncomfortable situation.

Temba Bavuma fought for his life to get that thumb out to avoid a delay, but before the camera panned out, he was still struggling. Eventually, Bavuma got the thumb freed, but the embarrassing moment went viral on social media platforms. The South African skipper is no stranger to trolling, and this bizarre moment has once again prompted meme pages to poke fun at Bavuma.

Bavuma amazes with stupendous flying six

In an exhilarating display of athleticism, Temba Bavuma earned fans’ praise with an acrobatic upper cut six during day 1 of the Sri Lanka-South Africa Durban Test. Facing Lahiru Kumara’s short-pitched delivery, Bavuma took a jump and smashed an upper cut that went all the way for six.

The captain played an impactful knock of 70 off 117 balls, which was also the highest score of the first innings. Now, in the second innings as well, Temba has had a decent 24 off 45 balls start, with South Africa leading with 281 runs.
