Virat Kohli’s humour and fun personality is well known around the cricketing world. Often he enjoys light moments with teammates. Recently Prithvi Shaw opened up about one of his funny incidents with Virat Kohli. The young Indian batter shared how Virat Kohli pranked him in the middle of a match.
In India, cricket is much more than a game. The cricketers sometimes enjoy funny moments in the dressing room. India’s u-19 World Cup-winning skipper Prithvi Shaw made his debut in the senior team in 2018. In the series against England, Virat Kohli hilariously pranked Shaw and made him run at lunchtime.
Shaw on Kohli’s Prank
After winning the under-19 World Cup as captain, Prithvi Shaw grabbed the limelight overnight and made his debut for India at the age of 18. During that time, India was playing a series against England and Prithvi was there in the team. During that time, Virat Kohli pranked him and made the youngster rush to the ground. Recently Shaw shared the funny story.
“It was a game against England and I was in the dressing room. I was with Ash Bhai and Mohammed Shami. And someone got out. I was not playing that match. We don’t hear the ground noise inside the dressing room. We were around the washroom, then Virat Bhai came into the washroom. Virat Bhai stared at me and asked What am I doing here? He asked, do I know that a wicket has fallen? And asked me to go check for the wicket,” Shaw revealed.
“Now we don't know that lunch break was on because 10 minutes ago we were standing there, so this man made me run all the way to the ground, now I am seeing everyone, no one on the field, and then Virat Bhai said, you don’t know the lunch is on,” the batter added.
Prithvi’s Snub From IPL 2025
Prithvi Shaw rose through his career graph from a very young age. Right from the age-group tournaments to domestic cricket, Shaw roared with his exceptional performances. After winning the under-19 Cricket World Cup, he made his Test debut for India against West Indies in 2018. On his debut, he scored a magnificent century. Apart from the longest format, he showcased excellence even in the IPL.
But Shaw faced a terrible downfall in the last few days. He was snubbed from the Indian side. Even in the domestic tournament, the Mumbai batter was snubbed from the domestic side for his poor form and disciplinary issues. In the recently ended mega auction, he failed to secure any IPL contract. Delhi Capitals didn’t retain him and the other franchises didn’t show any interest. As a result of it, Shaw remained unsold in the auction. That was a huge setback for him.
