Stylish left-handed opener Pratham Singh reigned supreme in the Duleep Trophy, as he stunned India D with a dazzling century on day three of the ongoing affair. Pratham, who replaced Shubman Gill in the India A playing XI, showcased remarkable resilience to compile a match-saving hundred through an onslaught on Vidhwath Kaverappa.

The incident occurred during the 49th over of India A's second innings when Pratham Singh's valiant partnership with Tilak Varma had already ensured a formidable total for them. After Saransh Jain went for eight runs in his 17th over, India D skipper Shreyas Iyer handed the ball to ace speedster Vidhwath Kaverappa, hoping for a miracle.

However, his decision backfired on India D, as Pratham Singh unleashed beast mode and tormented the right-arm pacer. He kickstarted the over with a bang, hitting Kaverappa for a dismissive six over mid-wicket.

The southpaw followed it up with three dot balls before making Kaverappa face his wrath with two successive boundaries. His twin boundaries on the last two balls helped Pratham redeem himself with a sparkling ton after failure in the first innings.

India A Claim Driving Seat Vs India D In Duleep Trophy

Riding on Pratham Singh's sublime hundred and valuable knocks from Mayank Agarwal and Tilak Varma, India A powered themselves to a commanding position in the Duleep Trophy affair against the D team. Although Shreyas Iyer got rid of Agarwal towards the fag end of day 2, Pratham and Tilak steadied the ship for India A with a scintillating stand.

As of writing, the A team were 199 for one, with Pratham and Tilak batting on 108* and 34*, respectively. They have already secured a 306-run lead and will likely set a mammoth target for the D team, given they have nine wickets in hand.
