Rahul Tripathi ruined Sanju Samson's masterplan of using R Ashwin in the Powerplay on Friday (May 24) in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, taking place at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The swashbuckling SRH batter, who was seen absolutely hurt after losing his wicket in Qualifier 1, smashed three consecutive boundaries against the veteran spinner, leaving Samson helpless behind the stumps.

The thrashing came during the fourth over of SRH's innings when Tripathi began with a thumping four over mid-off. On the following delivery, he opened the bat face very late for a delicate boundary past the short third man.

Then Tripathi went for a biggie, getting a full-toss to play an audacious sweep which went over fine leg for a 66 metre six.

However, Tripathi did not last long, losing the ploy after scoring 37 off just 14 balls. Trent Boult made him his bunny, as SRH, at the time of writing this, have slipped to 68/3 at the end of six overs. Boult, meanwhile, took all three wickets, although he conceded 32 runs off his three overs.
