The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 is heading into its knockout stages, and the competition has become even fiercer, as teams fight for the top-2 spots to stay alive in the competition. While some Indian stars have played their two mandatory games as per team management's demand, some are still in action in the domestic tournament to prove their match fitness.
Shreyas Iyer made his long-awaited return and straightaway scored crucial runs for Mumbai as their captain, while Mohammed Siraj bowled a match-winning spell to keep Hyderabad alive in the competition. Devdutt Padikkal also continued to bolster in the ongoing competition as he knocks on India's door.
Here's a brief look at the key performances from Round 6.
Siraj and Aman Rao lead Hyderabad's massive win over Bengal
Hyderabad were asked to bat first by Bengal in Rajkot, where opener Aman Rao scored a memorable 200*(154) with 12 sixes and 13 fours against a formidable lineup of Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar to take his team to 352/5 at the end of 50 overs. Shami picked 3/70 to slow down the scoring rate towards the end, but was overshadowed by Siraj's match-winning 4/58 (10) in the second innings. Early wickets from the pacer, which also saw him on a hat-trick at one point, pushed Bengal to the wall, and they could never recover.
Shahbaz Ahmed got 108*(113) alongside Anustup Majumdar's 59(72), but it was far from enough as they lost the match by 107 runs.
Shreyas Iyer returns to action with a match-winning knock
India's vice-captain was back on the field for the first time since his dreadful injury in Sydney back in October and showed no signs of rustiness. Coming in at 55/2 in the 8th over, Iyer scored a crucial 82(53) with 10 fours and three sixes from being 5*(14) at one point. Musheer Khan also scored an important 73(51) at the top, and Mumbai finished at 299/9 after the stipulated 33 overs.
In a cutthroat run-chase, where Himachal Pradesh looked like chasing down the total, Shivam Dube took 4/69 (6.4), while getting rid of the dangerous Pukhraj Mann (64 off 41) among others. Mayank Dagar's valiant 64(47) and Amanpreet Singh's 42(21) went in vain as they got all out for 292.
Padikkal and Mayank continue their run-scoring form
Padikkal, who has been at the peak of his powers in List A cricket, currently missed out on his 5th century in 6 matches after he was dismissed for 91(82) with 12 fours and 2 sixes by Manav Suthar after a 184-run opening stand with Mayank Agarwal, who scored 100(107) with 9 fours and three sixes. The solid platform helped them reach 324/7 at the end of 50 overs, while KL Rahul got 25(28).
With the ball, Prasidh Krishna led their charge and took a five-wicket haul, conceding only 36 runs in his 8 overs. Shreyas Gopal added 19*(13) with the bat and picked 2/45 (7) as they won the match by 150 runs.
Kuldeep, Jurel & Rinku shine vs Vidarbha to claim the top spot in the group
In a battle among the top-2 teams of Elite B, Uttar Pradesh were put in to bat first, and Abhishek Goswami scored a 103(109) to give a foundation to their power-packed middle order. Dhruv Jurel got 56(61) with five fours and a six, while Priyam Garg and Rinku Singh scored quick-fire fifties each, adding 67(49) and 57(30), respectively, to take UP to 339/5.
During the chase, Aman Mokhade scored his fourth hundred of the competition, fighting alone for a long time and got 147(117) with 17 fours and two sixes, while red-ball skipper Akshay Wadkar chipped in with 51*(47). However, thanks to Kuldeep Yadav's 3/52 leading UP's bowling, they won the match by 55 runs.
