Steve Smith abruptly fell during his innings at the SCG [Source: cricketcomau/X.com]
Australia captain Steve Smith was in his vintage touch while batting in the first innings of the fifth Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, as he scored his 13th Ashes hundred, taking him to number 2 in the history of the rivalry, only behind Don Bradman's 19 to get the Aussies a healthy first innings lead.
With his batting form also came his fidgety stay at the crease, which saw him doing different theatrics that he is known for for years. One such incident saw him comically losing his balance and taking a tumble as he appraoched his century. Check out what happened below.
Commentators burst into laughter as Steve Smith tumbles at SCG
The incident happened at the 96.2 over mark when Josh Tongue charged in and bowled a bouncer to the Aussie skipper, who was well settled at 73*(129).
It was the second time in a few overs span that Smith took a tumble off Tongue's short ball but in a more dramatic manner.
As the ball passed by and he ducked it, Steve Smith was caught on heels and lost his balance, falling down in slow-motion and rolling over completely as Joe Root at the short-leg and the commentators saw funny side of it and everyone at the scene burst into laughter.
The batter soon got back up and was once again back to business, scoring comfortably in his bubble.

Smith joins an elite list
Later on in the innings, Smith looked unfazed as he approached his fifth century at the venue, surpassing a long list of legends to sit only behind the former captain Ricky Ponting, who has scored 6 tons at the iconic SCG.
As things stand, the 36-year-old is unbeaten at 111 off 182 and taken Australia's lead past 80 runs, as he builds a partnership with Beau Webster (10*) after a 71-run stand with Cameron Green (37) for the 7th wicket.
