Kerala batting dynamite Vishnu Vinod went ballistic against Puducherry in their Elite Group A match of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season on January 6. Batting at number four at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Vinod tonked 13 boundaries and 14 huge sixes to slap 162* runs from just 84 balls.

His innings helped Kerala gun down Puducherry’s 247 with eight wickets and 21 overs intact in the game as the Rohan Kunnummal-led side jumped to the second spot on the Group A points table.

PBKS debut on the cards for Vishnu Vinod as Kerala star goes big

Vishnu Vinod hammered down his eighth List A century, and easily the best of his 50-overs career with an unbeaten 162-run knock from just 84 balls against Puducherry in Ahmedabad. Batting at number four, the 32-year-old arrived at the crease in just the fifth over of the innings after the fall of both Kerala openers, including senior man Sanju Samson.

Vishnu Vinod went on to craft an unbroken 222-run partnership with number three and half-centurion Baba Aparajith (63* off 69) to blaze Kerala home in just 29 overs in a chase of 248. As one can expect, the attacking right-handed batter also bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his run-chase heroics.

RCB and Mumbai Indians have previously held Vishnu

Vishnu Vinod was acquired by the Punjab Kings franchise for the IPL 2025 season last year. Despite not getting a single game throughout the season during their runners-up campaign, the blistering middle-order batter got retained by the franchise a couple of months ago for the upcoming IPL 2026 spectacle.

By going beast mode in a 50-overs Vijay Hazare game, Vishnu Vinod might certainly have made a strong case for himself in landing a possible IPL debut for the Punjab Kings franchise this season. He has previously played a handful of IPL games for RCB (in 2017) and for Mumbai Indians (in 2023).
