Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the 4th Youth ODI between England U19 and India U19 as it panned out at the County Ground, New Road in Worcester on Saturday, July 5th
Twin Tons from Vaibhav and Vihaan Power India to Commanding Total
After being asked to bat first, India U19 lost skipper Ayush Mhatre early, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi countered the pressure with a masterclass in aggressive batting. The swashbuckling left-hander first negotiated the new ball before shifting gears dramatically, tearing into the English bowling. He brought up his fifty in just 24 balls and continued the carnage, reaching his maiden Youth ODI century off 52 deliveries.
Vihaan Malhotra played the perfect second fiddle as India surged to 216 at the halfway mark. Vaibhav got out at 143 off 78 balls which was followed by a brief middle-order collapse. However, Vihaan held firm, scored a century as well, and powered India U19 to 363 in 50 overs. For England, Jack Home claimed four wickets, while Sebastian Morgan was economical and took three wickets under his belt.
Rocky Flintoff’s Fighting Century in Vain as India Clinch Victory
Chasing 364, England U19 openers Ben Dawkins and Joseph Moores gave their team a flying start with a dominant 104-run partnership, putting India under early pressure. However, the momentum shifted when leg-spinner Naman Pushpak struck twice in two balls, sparking a collapse. India capitalized with regular breakthroughs with Rocky Flintoff the only English batter who looked composed.
The 17-year-old stood tall amid the collapse, continuing to score fluently with no real help from the other end. He brought up a fighting century, but his valiant effort went in vain as England U19 fell short by 55 runs at. Naman Pushpak was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with three crucial wickets that broke England’s momentum. R.S. Ambrish also chipped in with two important scalps, while Deepesh and Kanishk Chauhan claimed one wicket each.
