After being put into bat first, India u-19 had a disastrous start to their innings, losing the prized wicket of Ayush Mhatre in the fourth over. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi steadied the ship with Vihaan Malhotra, forming a scintillating partnership for the second wicket.
The left-handed batter eventually went on to bring up his hundred, punishing the English side with his scintillating stroke play. He hammered seven sixes and ten fours, collecting 82 runs only from boundaries in this process.
Suryavanshi completed his century in the nineteenth over when he took a single off Ralphie Albert's bowling. He has showcased remarkable consistency with the bat in the series so far.
Playing as an opener, Suryavanshi, who starred with the bat for Rajasthan Royals in his maiden IPL stint, struck belligerent cameos in the first two matches.
He went on to convert his start into a magnificent 31-ball 86 in the third youth ODI before smacking a sublime ton in the ongoing affair. His 52-ball ton is the fastest hundred by any player in under-19 cricket history as he broke Kamran Ghulam's long-standing record.
With Ayush Mhatre suffering from poor form, Suryavanshi has emerged as India u19's go-to man with the bat, ensuring perfect starts for the team in all matches.
Riding on Suryavanshi's century, India u19 have set the foundation for a huge score. As of writing, the visitors were 181 for one in 21.1 overs, with Suryavanshi and Vihaan Malhotra batting on 115* and 38*, respectively.
