Vaibhav Suryavanshi registered his maiden fifty in the Ranji Trophy with a trademark aggressive knock against Meghalaya. The cricketer scored 93 off just 67 balls and was all set to become the youngest centurion in the tournament's history.

However, he missed out, and Dhruve Pandove's 38-year-old record remained intact. Nevertheless, Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed his full range in the game and raced to fifty in just 33 balls. He then carried on his power-hitting and smashed nine fours and four sixes, scoring his runs at a strike-rate of 138.81.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi shines for Bihar against Meghalaya

Thus, the 14-year-old has announced himself in India's most prestigious domestic tournament and has stepped up for his side as a vice-captain. Overall, it was Suryavanshi's knock that was the highlight for Bihar as the rest of the batters, as well as their bowlers, struggled.

The youngster could score just 14 runs in the first match of the season, and this knock is likely to give him a lot of confidence for the rest of the tournament. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in great form in the last six months and first made a big impression in the IPL 2025 for Rajasthan Royals.

He has been pretty dominant for India at the U19 level as well and has scored centuries on tough tours of England and Australia. Thus, Bihar would be expecting bigger things from the 14-year-old in the rest of the season.

The match against Meghalaya, though, ended in a draw with only 166 overs possible. Meghalaya batted first and declared their innings for 408, and in reply, Bihar could muster 156 runs at a loss of four wickets.

Bihar now have eight points in their kitty with one win and two draws this season. They will next play against Sikkim on November 8.
