The Under-19 One-Day Challenger Trophy is all set to be held in Hyderabad from November 5, and one of the squads includes Anvay Dravid, the younger son of legendary Rahul Dravid. The youngster, who is a wicketkeeper batter, has been included in the India C squad after his productive stint for Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad trophy.

Anvay Dravid follows footsteps of elder brother and legendary father

Anvay Dravid scored 220 runs as captain of Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad trophy, and the Challenger Series provides him a good opportunity to stake his claim for a spot in next year's U19 World Cup. The U19 One-Day Challenger series has acted as a precursor for selection in the U19 World Cup over the years, with junior talent from all over the country assembling in the tournament.

In 2024, Samit Dravid was also selected in the U19 Challenger Trophy but missed out at the last minute due to injury. Thus, both sons of Rahul Dravid have started to rise slowly through the Indian cricket ranks and would be looking to take bigger steps in the future.

The Challenger Trophy will feature four teams and it includes players like Vihaan Malhotra, Abhigyan Kundu and Harvansh Singh who have already done well for India U19. The selectors, though, have not selected U19 stars like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre as they are currently delivering impressive performances for senior sides.
