On Monday, June 30, India Under-19 faced England Under-19 at the County Ground in Northampton. The hosts won the toss and asked the Ayush Mhatre-led side to bat first.
The visitors got off to the worst possible start, losing their skipper Ayush Mhatre on the first legal ball of the match. Mhatre departed for a golden duck, putting pressure on 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Suryavanshi Misses Out On A Fifty For The 2nd Time
The southpaw rose to the occasion and attacked the bowlers all over the park. Vaibhav got off to a much-needed start but failed to convert it into a big score, dismissed for a brilliant 45 off 34 balls, featuring five fours and three sixes.
This was the second time in the series that Suryavanshi missed out on a fifty, having also scored a quick fire 48 in the first match.
England Bowler Celebrates With a Send-Off
Suryavanshi had surprised and frustrated the English bowlers with his wide range of shots. Looking to reach his fifty in style with a big hit, Vaibhav was caught by Morgan at the boundary.
Bowler Jack Home was pumped up, knowing the value of the wicket, and gave the 14-year-old a send-off as he walked back to the pavilion.
Suryavanshi in Form of His Life
The 14-year-old is enjoying the time of his life, amassing 93 runs in two innings at an average of 46.50 in this series. The left-handed batter rose to fame during IPL 2025, scoring 252 runs in seven innings at an average of 36.
After the IPL, Vaibhav joined the rest of the India Under-19 squad at the NCA, where he smashed 150 runs and dominated the bowlers. At the time of writing, India Under-19 were 82/2 after 14.1 overs.
