Ayush Mhatre is just 17 years old and is leading IndiaU19 on their tour of England currently. However, things have not started well for the youngster. In the first match of the five-game ODI series, Mhatre scored 21 runs while he has bagged a golden duck in the second encounter on Monday, June 30.

In the first game, he did manage to build a decent stand with Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the run-chase before Alex French got the better of him with a beauty. Now, in the second match, the same bowler has bowled on the very first ball of the game. Thus, England's decision to bowl after winning the toss has worked in their favour and now the pressure is on Vaibhav Suryavanshi again, who smashed 48 from 19 balls in the last match.

Ayush Mhatre Encounters Rare Failures After Consistent Performances

Talking about Ayush Mhatre, he came into the tour on the back of a brilliant maiden IPL season. He was one of the rare positives for CSK in a disappointing campaign and impressed one and all with his explosive batting at the top of the order.

The Mumbai batter has also been successful for his state team at a senior level. He has two first-class hundreds already and has an excellent List A average of over 65. Ayush also made an impact during his last U19 tournament, which was an Asia Cup in UAE. He scored 176 runs in five innings in that competition and got his runs at a strike rate of 135.38 and an average of 44.

Thus, Ayush Mhatre has shown consistency in almost every level he has played so far, and these rare back-to-back failures are likely to be a good learning curve for him. Despite his batting failure in the first match, his team won the game comfortably, and the youngster would be expecting the same performance from his teammates in this game.
