On Wednesday, December 24, the 33rd edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy kickstarted in India with 19 games being played across the entire country. Eyes were on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who returned to domestic cricket after a long time.
Virat Kohli featured for Delhi, which took on Andhra at the BCCI’s centre of excellence. The match was shifted from Chinnaswamy Stadium due to security reasons and is now being played behind closed doors. However, Rohit is playing for Mumbai against Sikkim at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Rohit turns down fans' special request
Fans rushed in big numbers to watch the hitman in action. Further, the crowd set the vibe with chants for their idol as Rohit was spotted fielding at the boundary rope. There were chants of ‘Rohit, Rohit’. Meanwhile, in the latest events, a clip has gone viral where a group of fans teased Hitman to have a vada pav - Rohit’s favourite snack.
In the now viral video, the fans asked Rohit to have a home-cooked Vada-pav, but the India star shook his hand, denying the offer, which led to a huge uproar in the stadium.
"Rohit Bhai Vadapav khaoge kya bag me pada hai?" (Rohit brother, will you have vada-pav? I have it in the bag), remarked the group. However, Rohit denied it as he is looking after his fitness and eyeing to play the 2027 ODI World Cup.

After the 2025 Champions Trophy, Rohit was not in action for a long time and there rumours that the management were looking beyong Rohit, Virat in ODIs. Questions were raised on Rohit’s fitness, but the hitman worked alongside Abhishek Nayar and reduced 10 kilos before travelling to Australia.
His physical transformation stunned the fans, and it also helped his game down under. Further, he is on a quest to shed more kilos and looks sharper than before during his outing with Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
