Why fans won’t see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on TV in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26?

India’s premier domestic 50-over competition, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, gets underway tomorrow, December 24. Thus, in less than 24 hours, Indian stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will make their domestic return playing for their respective teams, Delhi and Mumbai.

The duo’s return comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a no-nonsense directive: players must participate in domestic cricket when not on national duty. Having retired from Tests and T20Is, Rohit and Kohli's participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy will give them adequate game time before India's ODI series against New Zealand in January next year.

The opening day of the tournament features several thrilling clashes, with Delhi vs Andhra and Mumbai vs Sikkim hogging the most limelight, leaving fans wondering how to watch Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26.

Where will Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's Vijay Hazare Trophy games be telecast?

Despite the massive buzz around the matches featuring both legendary figures, the fans will not be able to catch them in action. Notably, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's Vijay Hazare Trophy games won't be telecast on TV or online streaming platforms.

As the BCCI will only be broadcasting a few of the matches, since the facilities are being set up only at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot

Thus, since Rohit will play for Mumbai in Jaipur and Kohli will feature for Delhi in Bengaluru, there will be no broadcast or streaming from those venues.

However, given the fanfare, the broadcast schedule could still change, as it has historically. For instance, during Virat Kohli's Ranji Trophy return in Delhi vs Railways earlier this year, a broadcast was not originally scheduled. Yet, the apex body of cricket in India confirmed at the last minute that fans would be able to see Kohli on the streaming platform.

Moreover, fans will not be able to see Virat in action from the stands in Bengaluru, as the match scheduled at the Chinnaswamy Stadium will be contested behind closed doors. On the other hand, spectators can watch Rohit play as the doors are open in Mumbai's match in Jaipur.
