List A cricket has always been a platform for young talents to break into the national setup. With outstanding displays of batting and bowling across the world, India’s List A cricket structure remains one of the most diverse and dominant.

In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26, Bihar dismantled Arunachal Pradesh with a record-smashing total that now tops the list of the highest innings scores in List A cricket history.

So, let’s take a look at the other scores that domestic clubs boast in List A cricket and examine how Bihar surpassed them dominantly.

5) England - 481/6 vs Australia

Though technically not a domestic match, the England vs Australia ODI clash in 2018 saw England smash a massive 481 runs from 50 overs. Jonny Bairstow’s 139 and Alex Hales’ 147 orchestrated Australia’s destruction, while Jason Roy added 82 and skipper Eoin Morgan contributed 67 to further dent Australia’s confidence.

Australia attempted a fightback but faltered against Adil Rashid’s 4-fer storm, as they were bundled out for just 239 runs, handing England a commanding 242-run victory.

4) Surrey - 496/4 vs Gloucs

The Surrey versus Gloucestershire match in London in 2007 saw the former pile up 496 runs, powered by James Benning and Ali Brown, both of whom scored 150-plus runs at explosive strike rates to help the team post a mammoth total. Rikki Clarke also played an unbeaten knock of 82 runs off just 28 balls, further crushing Gloucestershire’s hopes during the chase.

Gloucestershire suffered a massive collapse from the outset and were reeling at 65 for 5 by the end of the middle overs. Mohammad Akram and Chris Schofield then ensured Surrey sealed the match with a dominant 257-run victory through their bowling heroics.

3) England - 498/4 vs Netherlands

England came close to entering the 500-run club against the Netherlands during their 2022 tour of the country. Explosive opening knocks from Phil Salt, who scored 122 off just 93 deliveries, and Dawid Malan, who struck 125 off 109 balls, along with Jos Buttler’s blistering 162, helped England post a mammoth total of 498 runs.

Although the Netherlands attempted to mount a chase through Max O’Dowd and Scott Edwards, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, and Reece Topley restricted them to 266 runs, sealing England's comprehensive 232-run victory.

2) Tamil Nadu - 506/2 vs Arunachal Pradesh

Tamil Nadu piled up a massive record total of 506 runs from 50 overs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2022 against Arunachal Pradesh. The enormous score was built on Sai Sudharsan’s 154 and Narayan Jagadeesan’s brilliant 277 not out off 141 deliveries.

Both openers laid the foundation for the huge total, which was later further supported by contributions from Baba Aparajith and Baba Indrajith.

In response, Arunachal Pradesh faltered completely and were bundled out for just 71 runs, handing Tamil Nadu one of the biggest victories by margin in Vijay Hazare Trophy history.

1) Bihar - 574/6 vs Arunachal Pradesh

In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26, Bihar piled up a staggering total of 574 runs to top the prestigious list. The onslaught was led by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and later carried forward by skipper Sakibul Gani and Ayush Loharuka.

Suryavanshi opened the batting and struck at an astonishing rate of 226.19, amassing 190 runs off just 84 balls, including 16 boundaries and 15 sixes.

After his dismissal in the 27th over, Ayush Loharuka picked up the pace with a strike rate of 207.14, scoring 116 runs, while skipper Sakibul Gani played a blistering 128 off just 40 balls. Their efforts helped Bihar post a monstrous total, which now sits atop the list of the highest innings totals in List A cricket history.
